Who we are

Visual Vitality Photography is a small, independent landscape photography business based in the United Kingdom, run by the photographer whose work appears on this site. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Visual Vitality Photography is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website.

What we collect

The only personal information this site collects is what you choose to send through the contact form:

• Your name and email address.
• The subject and message you write.
• If you arrived from the gallery, the photo, print size and price you were asking about.
• Whether you ticked the box asking to receive occasional updates.

To protect the form from misuse, the site also keeps a short-lived record of the internet address (IP address) each message was sent from. These records are used only to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection in an hour and are deleted automatically within 24 hours.

The public pages of this site do not use cookies and do not include any analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use it

Your details are used to reply to your enquiry, to arrange and fulfil a print order or licence if that is what you asked about, and for nothing else. The lawful basis for this is that it is necessary to respond to your request and, where an order follows, to carry out the contract with you.

If you ticked the updates box, we may occasionally email you about new prints or photography news. That is done on the basis of your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any such email or by sending a message through the contact form.

Where it is stored and who can see it

Messages are stored in a database on the site's hosting account with IONOS, a hosting provider operating in the UK and EU, and a copy is emailed to the photographer. Nobody else has access to them. Your details are never sold, shared with third parties for marketing, or transferred outside the UK and EU.

The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests those font files from Google, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request in the same way it would for any website using its fonts. No other personal information is sent to Google.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while they are being dealt with and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up, then archived. Records relating to a completed order are kept for as long as UK tax and accounting rules require. You can ask for your messages to be deleted at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Ask for anything inaccurate to be corrected.
• Ask for your information to be deleted.
• Withdraw consent to receive updates.
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled.

To exercise any of these rights, send a message through the contact form and it will be dealt with promptly.

Changes to this notice

If the way this site handles personal information changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
